M8 Photos In Gallery Disappearing
ProblemOnce in a while, pictures from the past will disappear. I have Google+ which saves pictures automatically and other came ra/picture apps but not sure why they disappear since have to go to Google+ Photos and resend them to myself. Can you help me please??
Solution: I’ve seen the attached photo that you sent us of your gallery photos that have disappeared (triangle with an exclamation mark) and it looks like your microSD card is faulty, that is if you are saving your photos in your microSD. The good thing is that you have enabled cloud backup of your photos using Google+ Photos.
What you should do is to try to buy a new microSD and use it on your phone. Verify if the issue still exists and if it doesn’t then you have just found the cause of the problem.
In case you aren’t using a microSD card and you are saving your photos in the phone internal storage then the problem could be caused by the gallery app, an app that you have downloaded, or a glitch in the phone software.
To check if it is a problem with the Gallery app you should clear its cache and data
  • From a home screen, tap Apps icon
  • Tap Settings.
  • From the DEVICE section, tap App manager.
  • From the ALL tab, tap the Gallery app.
  • From the Cache section, tap Clear cache.
  • From the Storage section, tap Clear data.
To check if the problem is caused by an app you downloaded boot your phone in Safe Mode
  • Press and hold the Power button (located on the top edge of the device) until the ‘Phone options’ prompt appears then release.
  • Tap and hold Power off until the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ prompt appears then release.
  • From the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ prompt, tap RESTART to confirm.
  • Allow approximately 1 minute for the process to complete.
  • Upon reboot, ‘Safe mode’ appears in the lower left of the unlock/home screen.
Check if the problem occurs in this mode. If not then a third party app that you downloaded is causing the issue. Find out what it is and uninstall it.
To check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software you have to do a factory reset. Take note that this deletes all of your data so make a backup first before proceeding.
Factory reset from settings
  • Go to Settings, and then tap B ackup & reset.
  • Tap Reset phone.
  • If you want to delete media, documents, and other data from the phone storage, select Erase all data.
  • To also delete media and other data from your storage card, select Erase SD card.
  • Tap OK.
M8 “unfortunately Gmail has stopped” Error
ProblemHi, I have HTC ONE M8 HK on Sprint network. When I am doing anything on my phone I get a message that pops up saying “unfortunately Gmail has stopped”, then asks me to select reporting it or choose ok. This happens even when I’m not into Gmail, and do not even have the app opened up. This happens intermittently, about everything 3 minutes or so. Also, I have the Gmail app downloaded to my phone. When I go into Gmail from the app, Gmail shuts down. If I Google Gmail and enter into my account that way it works fine. Should I delete the Gmail app and download it to my phone again? Any info or advice will help. Thanks!
Solution: The problem that you are facing is with the Gmail app. What you should do is to try to clear out its cache, data, then uninstall its updates.
  • From a home screen, tap Apps icon
  • Tap Settings.
  • From the DEVICE section, tap App manager.
  • From the ALL tab, tap the Gallery app.
  • From the Cache section, tap Clear cache.
  • From the Storage section, tap Clear data.
  • Click uninstall updates
Restart your phone then try to use the Gmail app again and see if the “unfortunately Gmail has stopped” still appears. Most likely it should be gone by now. You can now go ahead and update your Gmail app, it should be working fine after the update has been applied.
M8 Cloudy Camera Issue
Problem: Dear Sir, I have been using M8 since six months and it’s a great phone but I am facing a problem of blurred and cloudy camera for the last three days. It’s quite disappointing thing for me as I’m a camera lover. I searched on internet regarding the same issue and I found that a lot of people are facing the same problem in it. Please help me if possible. Regards
Solution: The most likely reason why your photos are now cloudy is that the camera lens has some oily substance over it. What you need to do is to clean out the lens.
In cleaning your lens don’t just use any ordinary piece of cloth but instead use a microfiber cloth. It would be much better if you use can use a lens paper, the type of paper used in cleaning DSLR camera lenses. You can buy this cheap at any camera store.
Before rubbing your lens with a cloth or lens paper blow on it first to make sure that dust or any other solid matter isn’t on top of the lens. This is so that your lens won’t get scratched when you clean it.
Once the lens has been cleaned try taking a photo again and you will see that your photos won’t be cloudy.
M8 Poor Signal Issues
ProblemHow come my phone has such a bad signal a lot of the time is it a problem with my phone or is it coverage from the o2 network i keep having to power it off at least once a week to get the signal to work better? Would be very grateful if ye could help me out with this problem. Kind regards
Solution: Most of the signal related issues of the M8 are primarily caused by the network. If you are getting a bad signal in a particular area does the problem occur in another area? If you are experiencing the problem only in a particular area then this is most likely caused by coverage issues.
Once you have ruled out any network related concerns the next step is to isolate your SIM card. This can easily be done by using another SIM. This way we can figure out if the problem is caused by your SIM.
If the problem still persists despite changing your SIM then you should consider doing a factory reset on your device. This way we can rule out any software related issues that may be causing the problem. Be sure to back up your data first before proceeding.
  • Turn off device
  • Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
  • Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
  • Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
Once you have eliminated the network related causes, SIM, and the software but still the phone is having a bad signal then it could probably be a hardware related issue already. In this case you will have to bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.

How do I move apps to a different screen on a Samsung Galaxy S2

So youve got some apps on your homescreens and have decided to move one or two for whatever reason but cant quite work out how...well actually its really simple. You need to hold your finger on whatever icon you want to move (for this example "Internet") and youll see it "bubble" slightly and the screen will show a "frame". When you see the frame on screen drag the icon to side of the screen that relates to the screen you want to put it. For example your on screen 2 and want to move the icon to screen 1 you need to drag it to the left, if you want to move it to screen 3 youd drag it to the right.
When youve moved page you need to place the icon where you want it an into an availabl e space then drop it and it will sit nicely on your new page.

You can of course choose to move it back at any time or take it off the homescreens altogether if you wish.

How to fix a Samsung Galaxy S6 that keeps rebooting restarting other power and battery issues

There have been a lot of random restart issues we received from Samsung Galaxy S6 (#Samsung #GalaxyS6) owners and it’s alarming. I have gone through reading those messages and I can group them into three:
  • Random reboot after firmware update
  • Device keeps restarting after i t shut off on its own
  • Frequent restarts without apparent reason
Galaxy-S6-keeps-restarting
If any of these problems happen to you, here’s what you need to do:
  • If the ph one started to randomly reboot after an update, it’s just some corrupt caches that’s causing the problem. Wiping the cache partition should be the first thing you do and if it fails, backup your data and do the master reset.
  • In case your S6 shut down on its own without apparent reason and started to restart, it might be a battery issue. Try to see if the phone can stay turned on if kept plugged in.
  • For frequent restarts that occurred out of the blue, try booting the device in safe mode. If it still restarts in that state, then it’s a firmware problem. Wipe the cache partition, then master reset if the former didn’t fix it.
Now, for other power and battery related issues I cited in this article, here’s the list. Click on the link to jump to a problem…
  1. S6 keeps restarting on its own or power down without apparent reason
  2. Galaxy S6 screen turned black due to physical damage
  3. S6 keeps showing the Power sharing notice and docking warning
  4. Random apps from Google Play Store popping up
  5. S6 froze, won’t charge and won’t turn on
  6. Straight Talk Galaxy S6 can’t update firmware
  7. Galaxy S6 doesn’t charge or can’t completely charge the battery, fast charging not working
  8. Galaxy S6 won’t charge due to water damage
  9. Fully-charged S6 turned off and won’t turn back on
  10. S6 ran out of battery but reached 42% after a few minutes of charging
In case you have other issues with your phone, visit ourtroubleshooting page and look for problems similar to yours. You may then use the solutions we provided.
S6 keeps restarting on its own or power down without apparent reason
ProblemLately, my phone has been restarting by itself, then it would just power down. I’ve also realized that the connectivity bar is blank (usually its white). I have pulled out the SIM card and done a wipe cache partition but the problem still occurs. I was wondering what I can do, without having to do a factory reset (I wasn’t able to back up any personal info. Since the screen would turn on for a few seconds then go blank).
Troubleshooting: It’s difficult for us to actually suggest a fix for this problem simply because we don’t know what exactly happened to your phone. If, by any chance, it got wet or suffered from liquid damage, don’t try to troubleshoot it, instead send it in for repair or further checkup.
But assuming it didn’t incur any damage and this problem just started out of the blue, it may be just an app or a firmware issue. To rule those possibilities out, try booting the phone in safe mode:
  1. Turn off your Galaxy S6.
  2. Press and hold the Power key.
  3. When ‘Samsung Galaxy S6’ appears, immediately release the Power key and then press and hold the Volume Down button.
  4. Continue holding the Volume Down button until the phone finishes the restart.
  5. When you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen, release the button.
If the device still reboots on its own, then it’s a firmware issue and there’s no other procedures you could try to fix this problem than master reset. But before that, try to connect your phone to your computer to, first, see if you can back up your data before the phone restarts and second, to see if it still reboots even with a stable power source helping the battery power up the components.
There’s a chance it’s a battery issue and if you connect your phone to a computer, it might just stop the restarts t emporarily. In this case, all you need to do is buy a new battery for your device, let the tech replace it for you and all your data will be saved.
Galaxy S6 screen turned black due to physical damage
ProblemA couple of days ago I dropped my phone while d riving my bike. There was a crack near the volume up button but other than that there is nothing wrong with the screen. At first the phone was partially unresponsive sometimes working and sometimes not. However a few minutes later a purple light on the side of the phone appeared which kept becoming bigger spreading over the phone. By now the phone was completely unresponsive so I tried a reboot, which didn’t help. By now my whole screen is black and when I try to turn it off i can only hear the sound but not see anything. Please help me!
Suggestion: Apparently, the display itself is damaged and not just the digitizer. That said, you need to have it replaced and b asing on your description, I think you can’t use warranty for it. Just send it in for repair and the tech will tell you if the display panel needs replacement and how much you’re going to spend for it.
S6 keeps showing the Power sharing notice and docking warning
ProblemFrom yesterday I have been facing a problem. Samsung gear VR automatically starts up with a blank screen and a cross mark at the bottom left. My S6 is stuck have to perform a soft reset to get back even after doing that it goes back to the same app and I’m unable to do anything. Performed a factory reset and the POWER SHARING POPS UP and another message DOCK IS CONNECTED. I PERFORMED a factory reset twice still the same problem persists. Please help.
Related ProblemI just plugged my phone into my normal charger, which is what I’ve used sin ce I purchased the phone 18 months ago. The phone does not charge and a message appears stating “unable to charge, use the original charger”  I am already using the charger I received with the phone.
Answer: It looks like a pin or two in the USB port is misaligned and touching others. You can try to use a toothpick to straighten them out but if you feel uncomfortable with it (or fear you can mess up your phone even more), let a tech do it for you.
Random apps from Google Play Store popping up
ProblemI have random apps from Google Play Store that I do not have installed popping up when I unlock phone and even when the phone has been in use for a bit no matter what I’m doing even if just staring at the home screen. Also not just apps pop up random sites saying I won something. Please help really annoying just got this phone beginning of February.
Answer: You must have installed an app that brought along these ads, all you got to do is find that app and uninstall it and by the way, those pages that keep popping up telling you to install certain apps are actually ads. If there’s something that’s telling you that you won something and asking about your information, that’s a phishing scam and don’t ever give out any of your information.
If can’t find the culprit, then just backup all your data and do the factory reset:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Backup and Reset.
  3. Tap Factory Data Reset.
  4. Read the warning and tap Reset Device.
S6 froze, won’t charge and won’t turn on
ProblemMy phone got hot and froze, so I let it sit and basically ’cause I didn’t know that I could just hold the power button and the other thing to make it fixed and it just shut off. I put in the charger and the screen lit up but it won’t tell me what percentage that and it’s just won’t work. I have it on the charger and it shows the low battery symbol and its been there for a couple hours now but it doesn’t tell me t he percentage and I can’t turn it on.
Answer: Sounds like it’s just a system crash. Just press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys together for 10 to 15 seconds and the phone will reboot. If there’s not enough battery left to power up the components, at least, the screen will flicker. You can then try plugging it in and it would charge this time.
Stra ight Talk Galaxy S6 can’t update firmware
ProblemI have a Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S6 and I am having troubles with updating my phone. It says it is at android version 5.0.2 and it won’t let me update my Straight Talk Galaxy S6 to the new version of the update it keeps saying software update is unavailable. Try again later and I’ve been trying to do this since I got the phone at Walmart.
Answer: If it’s a Straight Talk variant you got, then it’s not supposed to be updated. Your service provider doesn’t support firmware upgrades and if you read the fine prints in the terms and conditions, it’s mentioned there. Your only option is to have the phone rooted (bye bye warranty) and install a custom ROM.
Galaxy S6 doesn’t charge or can’t completely charge the battery, fast charging not working
ProblemMy phone, Galaxy S6 is not charging. In 8 hours from 9% to 88% it got charged when it was on flight mode. It’s not showing fast charging instead cable charging when I plugged in Samsung fast charger.
Suggestion: Try booting the phone in safe mode and see if it charges there and if so, it means some of your downloaded apps are draining the battery quicker than they’re expected to. Sadly, we can’t pinpoint the culprits since we don’t know the apps you’ve installed. It would be wise to start your troubleshooting with apps you installed before the problem started. Or, you can just backup your data and do the master reset:
  1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
  3. When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
  4. Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
  6. Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes â€" delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
  7. After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
If, however, the phone still discharges the battery quicker in safe mode and refuses to fast charge, it’s more likely a firmware issue and still master reset is necessary.
Galaxy S6 won’t charge due to water damage
ProblemMy phone has water damage and has been in a bowl of rice overnight. This morning I turned the phone on, it came on fine but went off as battery was dead now it won’t charge. Please help.
Answer: When it comes to water damage, we really can’t tell the extent of the problem. In your, it seems that the power IC was the one affected by it that’s why it refuses to charge. But here’s what I want you to do about it: press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys for 10 to 15 seconds. Even if the phone won’t boot up, the screen should, at least, flicker. After that, you can plug it in to charge and it should. If it’s not the case, then you really have to send it in for repair.
Fully-charged S6 turned off and won’t turn back on
ProblemPhone was fully charged and turned off.  Unable to turn it on and no indication when plugged into charger. I want to retrieve  photos  in gallery. Help please.
Related ProblemPhone has been rebooted after it turned itself off and would not turn back on, now says it has zero battery and will not charge.
Answer: It’s just a system crash, I think. Try pressing the Volume Down and Power keys together for 10 to 15 minutes, it should reboot. You may also follow the instructions I cited in thistroubleshooting guide.
S6 ran out of battery but reached 42% after a few minutes of charging
ProblemMy battery ran out while I was practicing my guitar with an app. I stuck my phone on a fast charger, waited until it was at 5%, and turned it back on. Upon turning my phone back on, I suddenly had 42% battery. It’s not really a problem, but… what the heck just happened?
Answer: You may be have the fastest charger on the planet… but I think it’s just an inaccurate battery reading. Try using the phone with 42% battery and see how long it’ll last. Or, you may try to reboot the phone to see if the reading changes.
Another procedure you can do to rectify this is to delete the system cache:
  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

How to delete text threads from a Samsung Galaxy S2

Due to the way the Samsung Galaxy S2 (and Androids in general) store the texts in "Threads" (or "Threaded conversations" if you prefer) the texts are kept pretty tidy by default. One of the best things about threaded conversations though is how easy they are to delete from the phone. Whether you want to delete some texts from an ex, a friend or just delete something a company has sent you, this guide will show you exactly how you delete those threaded conversations from a Samsung Galaxy S2.

Firstly you will need to open your text app, which should look something like the image on the left. This will show a list of all the text conversations on your phone with the persons picture, their name, the latest message and the date all being shown. What you need to do at this point is hold your finger on the conversation that you want to delete. For this example we are using "Tara Lewis" so I held my finger anywhere in her "block" (from the picture to the date).

After holding your finger down you will notice an option (see the screen shot on the right) with "View contact" and "Delete thread", at this point you need to select "Delete thread". After this you will be given the screen you can see in the screenshot to the left with a choice to "Cancel" or "OK" the deletion.

Please note- Only use this method if you want to delete all the messages in a conversation as that is what this does, it completely deletes the conversation from your phone. If you want to delete specific messages they you will need to open the thread and delete the messages individually.

How good is the front camera on the Galaxy S2

We recently had a look at how the photographs taken with the 8MP main camera on the Samsung Galaxy S2 look, and lets admit, they look impressive, vibrant and sharp. As well as that camera however the phone also features a front facing camera this really more used for video calls rather than as a still camera. This doesnt mean you cant use it as a 2MP still camera to take photos with. The photographs in this entry have all been taken with this front camera.

Sadly when youre using this camera mode youll notice that the only thing you can really get a good focus on is yourself (see the picture of me to the right hand side).
Whilst you can take photographs of others things, like this wardrobe picture to the left youll notice a number of issues. Firstly, as the wardrobe picture shows, your angles are hit and miss, you cant actually see the image youre taking a photo of, unless your taking a photograph of yourself. This means your pictures are given stupid slants and your miss things. It sort of looks like a drunk has taken it because youve effectively taken the photo "blind".

This picture to the right however shows an even bigger problem however, the pictures are often too dark. Unless youre taking a picture of your own face you do need a really good lighting source as there is no flash on the front camera. This moans not only are shots taken "blind" but they are then given a "dark" look which sort of further distills the q uality of the image.

Whilst the images of the wardrobe and the person on the couch are really poor photographs it does need to be said that this is the best to take a self shot image. It allows you to see yourself before taking the photograph and get the image right, however for anything else youre best off using the main camera to take photographs as it is a much more complete camera (and not just a higher quality one).
