Note 4 Screen Is Black
Problem: Hey i dropped my phone and the screen went black. My back arrow, home, and message alert lights work but the screen is black. Is this a hardware problem that id need a tech to look at?
Solution: If this problem occured right after the phone got dropped then the disp lay could be damaged. One indication that the display has been damaged is if nothing can be seen on the screen and it is black yet the phone still gets notification sounds from text messages or calls. You will need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the screen replaced. The display/digitizer assembly usually costs less than $300.
Note 4 Has A Black Screen
Problem: My phone has a black screen. I have tried removing the battery, waiting 10 minutes, and then inserting the battery and powering it on again. It still has the black screen and I’m really not sure why. HELP!!!!
Solution: Is your phone getting any notification sounds? If it isn’t then the problem could be caused by the phone not powering on. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to resolve this problem.
  • Remove the battery and microSD card from your phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute then reinsert the battery. Turn on your phone. If the phone does not turn on then connect it to its wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes before turning on the phone.
  • Try to start your phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I highly recommend that you perform a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
  • Try using a new battery on your phone

Note 4 Freezes Then Restarts
Problem: My phone freeze up, goes completely  black,  & restarts  itself. And sometimes the android  guy comes on the screen saying do not turn off the phone. This phone cost way too much money to have  all  of  these  issues.
Solution: One of the main causes of this kind of problem is the phone software. Sometimes the phone accumulates a lot of temporary data which oftentimes becomes corrupt leading to this issue. Another reason is that the phone software could be corrupt. Before doing any troubleshooting make sure to bac kup your phone data first.
The first thing you should do is to start your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. This deletes the temporary data in your device. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
If you are still experiencing the same problem then do a factory reset from the recovery mode.
Note 4 Touchscreen Not Working With Fingers
Problem: For months my touch screen will not wo rk with my finger.  Only with my pen.  I have tried to do hard resets- and the phone will work for a few days and then once again- it doesn’t work.  I don’t have any crazy apps installed.  no social media.  I say something about disabling the Smart Remote App although it was called something else before I disabled it- and it worked… that was last night.  this morning my phone worked- I went online on the phone and check my email on outlook and now it stopped working.  I am so frustrated.  please help
Solution: Try to start your phone in recovery mode then check if you are able to interact with the phone using your fingers. You will need to stay in this mode for a few hours to verify if the issue will occur. If it does occur then the phone digitizer could be faulty. You will need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have this checked. It’s possible that the digitizer will have to be replaced.
If the problem does not occur in recovery mode then restart your phone normally. Backup your phone data then do another round of factory reset. After the reset do not install anything in your phone. If possible, use your phone this way for at least two days. Observe if the issue still occu rs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app.  If the problem still occurs then you will need to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Screen Is Very Dim
Problem: While charging the screen times out, as it should, and dims.  However the brightness now is so low, when placed on a flat surface, the screen is completely unreadable. It’s like the dim function went from a 50 watt bulb to a 5 watt bulb. It’s too dark to look down and see if I have an e-mail/voice mail while plugged in. I have looked at display settings, turned it on in safe mode, spent 30 minutes with sprint and an hour with Samsung and googled all I can. Nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
Solution: The first thing to do in this case is to check if the brightness setting is set to maximum. Make sure to turn off the automatic brightness setting of your phone as well as this may be causing the issue. Once you have checked the phone setting and the problem still occurs I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This way you can immediately check if the problem is software related. Once the reset has finished do not install anything in your phone yet. Instead, check on the brightness first. You should also turn off the automatic brightness feature. If the issue still occurs even after the reset then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
Note 4 Ret rieving Data When Screen Is Cracked
Problem: I have cracked my screen. I do have a new phone but need to retrieve photos and notes off of my Note 4. I cannot  unlock the phone because I can’t  see the screen. Verizon could  not help. I need to unlock the phone to transfer data from old phone  to new. Please help!
Solution: Due to the secure nature of the Android operating system, you can only access the data of the phone if it is unlocked. To do this the screen must be functional. I would suggest that you have the display fixed first at an authorized service center so you can retrieve the phone data.
Note 4 Screen Does Not Turn Off
Problem: When my phone is resting (in my pocket, in the charger, on the table, etc) and I get a notification (from email or app), the screen lights up.  The screen does not go off.  It used to go off after about 30 seconds.  Now it does not.  I have not installed any new apps.  This started happening after the software update. Can you help me?
Solution: This issue could be caused by some form of corrupt temporary data. Try starting your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart the phone then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then this could be caused by the software update. Some data from the old software version could still be present in your device and is causing this problem. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this issue.
Note 4 Yellow Flickering Screen
Problem: Hello, I am usually very careful with my handheld devices. Nothing bad has happened to my Note 4 which is relatively new. My screen started to flicker and I noticed the background is yellow. I mean any fb page or any page that I open in a browser is yellow. Could you help in finding a solution for this?
Solution: I would suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the problem still occurs then this could be caused by several hardware factors such as a loose connection, defective display, or a defective display driver.  If this is the case I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
